Mr Hichilema said the reason why the country was facing numerous economic challenges was because of bad leadership.
“As the country suffers it needs someone to lead who is competent and capable and who can turn the economy around,” Mr Hichilema said.
He said Zambians were struggling to feed their families and survive in many other aspects because of lack of money.
Mr Hichilema appealed to Zambians to remember the children who were not in school as a result of their parents been unable to pay school fees to vote for the UPND.
He said democracy was equally important.
Meanwhile, UPND campaign manager Dipak Patel has urged voters not to vote for parties that have denied them a new Constitution.
Mr Patel said the Patriotic Front (PF) had failed to give the people a Constitution within the time it promised to do so and therefore they should not be voted back in.
“We appeal to the Zambian people to think carefully before voting for a party that while in government has denied them this most basic right,” he said.
