FORMER vice-president Lupando Mwape has urged people in Eastern Province to vote for Patriotic Front (PF) president Edgar Lungu in the January 20 presidential by-election.
Mr Mwape said in an interview that Mr Lungu should be supported because he was the right person for the republican Presidency.
“I am appealing to people of Eastern Province to support Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu for the position of Republican President,” he said.
Mr Mwape said he was fully in support of Mr Lungu because of his traceable records in leadership and performance in Government.
Mr Lungu was enjoying and commanding support from provinces such as Copperbelt, Muchinga, part of Central, Northern and Luapula provinces, which he said it was testimony that Mr Lungu would be the sixth Republican President.
Meanwhile, Copperbelt Minister Mwenya Musenge has implored people in the province to rally behind Mr Lungu for continued infrastructure development.
Mr Musenge said the province during the period of PF governance had recorded tremendous success in terms of infrastructure development in just three years.
The Copperbelt minister who cited projects such as the construction of township roads, schools as well as hospitals, said the PF had exhibited what was needed of a political party in government.
He said in an interview in Kitwe yesterday that there was need to maintain the momentum for implementation of infrastructure development by ensuring the PF remained in government after the January 20 elections.
He said change of government after this month’s elections would slow down the good programme for infrastructure development.
