ACTING President Guy Scott has said development projects by the Government are enough to secure the Patriotic Front (PF) victory in the forthcoming presidential election.
Dr Scott said in the last three years, the PF Government had implemented a lot of projects that had changed the physical outlook of most parts of the country and improved the lives of the people.
Dr Scott was speaking in Ndola yesterday when he addressed three rallies to drum up support for PF candidate Edgar Lungu ahead of the January 20 polls.
The rallies were held in Mushili, Chipulukusu and Chifubu townships.
“The PF does not practice politics of rhetoric anymore because the development that has taken place in the last three years is there for all to see and that’s our campaign message,” Dr Scott said.
In Ndola alone, the PF Government has constructed new roads, modern markets, health posts, schools and improved water supply.
Dr Scott said the spirit of late President Michael Sata was alive in the PF and had steered the party to unity and an expected bright future ahead.
“In 2011, we campaigned for change but this time, the campaign is about continuity with the development vision of Michael Sata and on January 20, you the electorate should go and vote for what you have seen,” he said.
The Acting President was accompanied by PF secretary general Davis Chama, Bwana Mkubwa Member of Parliament (MP) Emmanuel Chenda, Kabushi MP Dorothy Kazunga and Chifubu MP Susan Kawandami.
Others in the entourage were Ndola Central MP Fackson Shamenda, Roan MP Chishimba Kambwili, their Nchanga counterpart Wylbur Simuusa and members of the PF central committee.
Mr Chama said renowned political figures in Zambia had endorsed Mr Lungu because the PF had a clear vision to steer Zambia forward.
The MP’s took turns urging the electorate to vote for Mr Lungu so that the PF completes the mandate upon which it was ushered into Government in 2011.
Prior to the rallies, Dr Scott toured selected parts of Ndola in Mushili and Kantolomba to check of development projects and challenges facing the residents.
In Kantolomba, Dr Scott inspected a bridge that was constructed across the Kafubu river to link Chichele and Kantolomba at a cost of K530,000, to ease the movement of goods and people.
Dr Scott inspected areas in Mushili which needed new drainage systems with the area MP Mr Chenda saying the issue would be addressed through the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit.
The Acting President then visited Ndola Central Hospital where he inspected a CT scanner that was procured and installed recently at a cost of K6 million.
