RECORD 12-time Zambian league kings, Nkana have admitted receiving an offer from Egyptian side, Wadi Delga for the services of their 20-year-old hitman Ronald ‘Sate-Sate’ Kampamba.
Wadi Delga is the satellite club for English giants Arsenal as well as Belgian side K Lierse SK.
Nkana spokesperson Cephas Sinyangwe yesterday acknowledge receiving an email from the Cairo-based side but declined to state the player’s next destination.
Kampamba, top scorer for the Wusakile side the last two seasons, has been strongly linked with moves to South Africa Premiership sides, Platinum Stars and Supersport United.
“I can confirm that we have just received an email which links ‘Sate-Sate’ with the Egyptian side but I must state here that nothing is confirmed yet. The executive will sit down and make a decision,” Sinyangwe said.
He was also quick to state that there was no other contract on the table for Kampamba as it had been speculated.
“We don’t have any other offer. There was one but things did not work out so right now, this is the only one we have,” he said.
Sinyangwe explained that there was an offer from Platinum stars but after the striker refused to commit himself to the deal until after the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.
The Platinum deal fell through and left Kampamba open to other clubs.
Asked on whether the decision over the offer from Egypt will wait until the end of AFCON, Sinyangwe said: “The executive will sit as soon as possible and decide on way forward from there”.
Kampamba’s agents, P Management disclosed that they had been in constant contact with the Egyptian side and that the communication had been relayed to Nkana and it seemed ‘things will work out’.
P Management spokesperson, Vincent Phiri had said Wadi Delga were interested in the striker and had tabled a lucrative contract for Kampamba.
“We have emailed the offer to Nkana FC. Wadi Delga have presented a very lucrative contract for the player. We are waiting to hear from Nkana,” Phiri said.
Kampamba is currently with the national team preparing for the AFCON finals set for Equatorial Guinea later this month.
Wadi Delga, who are third on the Egyptian table with 29 points, five off leaders Zamalek, are also the owner of Belgian Second Division team K Lierse SK.
Wadi Delga is the club where legendary Egyptian goalkeeper Essam El Hadary plays and should he sign, he will become only the third non-Egyptian at the club after Ghanaian 31-year-old Akwetey Mensah and Nigerian Stanley Ohawushi.
