CHIPOLOPOLO forward James Chamanga has said the Chinese league is a tough and hugely competitive and is unfairly underrated in Zambia.
Speaking in an interview, Chamanga who plies his trade in China, said the Chinese league was tough and hoped more Zambians would trek to the Far East.
He said the issue of being underrated was clearly coming from the fact that the Chinese league was not on the conventional pay television in Zambia.
“The Chinese league is a very tough and competitive league unlike the perception that is held in this country about it. It is easy for me to say because I have been there and I know how tough it is.
“I actually wish more Zambians can come there and also see how difficult it is to make it there. I am also happy it suits my game but it is underrated just because Zambians don’t watch it on television like on Supersport,” he said.
The Chinese league has been rated lowly by most Zambians including Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili who bemoaned Chipolopolo captain Stoppila Sunzu’s move to that country’s Shanghai Greenland Shenhua last weekend.
But Chamanga said it was tough to get through the Chinese league and thanked God for seeing him through in the Asian nation where he has scored on average eight goals per season.
“I am happy that I average eight goals every season and that is despite the fact that I play on the left and it’s not so easy to get the goals but I am happy that I have managed to score between eight and 10 goals every year,” he said.
Chamanga even renewed his contract with Liaoning Whowin for two years and will run unto the end of the 2016 season.
The former City of Lusaka player joined Liaoning Whowin in 2013 from fellow Chinese side Dalian Shinde.
