ZAMBIA National Service (ZNS) Commandant Lieutenant General Nathan Mulenga has challenged the Green Eagles to make history and win the 2015 MTN Premier Division League title.
In a speech read for him by ZNS chief of health-services Brigadier-General Abynoty Mulela during unveiling of the newly constructed recreation club in Choma, Mulenga implored Eagles to continue putting in their best efforts and ensure that they take the trophy to Choma in the coming season.
The construction of both the recreation club located adjacent to the stadium and the officers’ mess at Choma ZNS unit was K1, 570,000.
“It is also my sincere hope that the recreation club, shall inspire the Green Eagles Footballers with their funs in Choma town and beyond to work even harder to bring the MTN Super League Trophy to this beautiful city of Choma come next season,” Mulenga said
The recreation club, would assist the club to be self-reliant in resource mobilisation and enable the players engage in various forms of fundraising ventures to raise funds to assist with running of the club.
He said the hand-over of the facility signified Government’s commitment to infrastructure development in ZNS.
Once the recreation club was properly managed, he said, the facility would ease the burden of ZNS command in providing resources for the team to meet its obligations.
He said the construction and subsequent handover of the recreation club was a testimony of the service’s passion and commitment to make the lives of personnel and local communities as comfortable as possible.
“I say so because not will this facility only benefit the Green Eagles footballers and members of the ZNS but also the supporters and the community at large,” he said.
ZNS Choma commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Jimmy Kafumukache said the infrastructure for the club was in a dilapidated state until this year when the command decided to renovate it.
He said the club had three modern bars namely the main bar, summer bar and the VIP lounge and would be used as an income generation venture by hosting several events such as weddings and kitchen parties.
