A WOMAN of Mwansabombwe has been arrested for burning her husband’s girlfriend with hot palm oil.
Luapula Province police chief Malcolm Mulenga said yesterday that Given Kashembi, 21, of Kapesa Village in Chief Kazembe’s area has been arrested for grievous bodily harm after she allegedly burnt Fridah Bupe, 19, of the same village with hot palm oil.
Mr Mulenga said Kashembi allegedly burnt Ms Bupe after she heard that her husband Ken Kande, 25, had impregnated the girlfriend.
The incident happened on Tuesday around 08:00 hours.
“The wife found out that Fridah Bupe has been impregnated by her husband and she burnt her with hot palm oil. The victim sustained burns on the left shoulder,” Mr Mulenga said.
Mr Mulenga also said a 36-year-old man of Mumbolo Village in Chief Kazembe’s area in Mwansabombwe was beaten by his mother-in-law and her sister after he differed with his wife.
He said Dominic Mwaba was slapped around and beaten with sticks by his mothers-in-law only known as Bana Katayi and Bana Stanley of the same village on Monday around 22:00 hours at his house.
Mr Mwaba insulted his wife and her parents.
An argument ensued between husband and wife and the wife’s parents later joined in.
Bana Katayi and Bana Stanley then beat him up and he sustained swollen hands and general body pain.
Meanwhile, a Kitwe man was yesterday found dead near Hill View Hospital along Freedom Road in Kitwe.
Douglas Mphanza, 36, of house number 41 Kenyatta drive in parklands, Kitwe was discovered dead by police and family members in the early hours of yesterday.
Police sources said Mr Mphanza suffered a broken left leg and a broken neck.
