THE Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested a police officer in Ndola for giving false information to the commission in the case involving former Copperbelt Police commissioner Mary Tembo.
Frederick Kabungo, 48, a deputy district criminal investigations officer of house number K18, Kansenshi police camp, has been charged with one count of knowingly misleading ACC officers by giving a false statement.
Between July 1, 2013 and March 31, this year in Kitwe, and in Lusaka, Kabungo misled officers of the ACC when he gave them false statements regarding his involvement and knowledge of the circumstances surrounding the change of ownership of a Toyota Corolla registration number AAX 5716 from Grizzly Mining Limited into the names of Ms Tembo.
This is in a matter related to the arrest of Ms Tembo, in which she was arrested and charged with two counts of abuse of authority of office.
ACC public relations manager Timothy Moono said in a statement yesterday that Kabungo appeared in Court on December 23, 2014 for plea, and will appear in Court again on January 16, for commencement of trial.
