GOVERNMENT has prioritised the development of arts and culture as this is a means of creating wealth and employment for the people.
Ndola district commissioner Rebby Chanda said Government was committed to developing arts and culture to enlighten upcoming generations on the importance of observing indigenous cultural practices.
Mr Chanda was speaking in Ndola yesterday during a district Arts and Cultural festival held at Masala Cultural village.
“Government is actively executing its role of promoting arts and culture countrywide and in our district, to create employment for our people and get value through the exhibition of locally made products,” he said.
Mr Chanda urged youths in the district to utilise the Masala cultural village for the development of skills related to arts and culture.
“Government is working to ensure that young people have equal access to funding through the Youth Development Fund (YDF) and I encourage you to apply for these loans to grow your art business create employment for others,” he said.
At the same occasion, Ndola district arts and culture officer Kapeleko Chitesha the Ministry of Tourism and Arts was promoting activities of art and culture, to encourage participation among members of the public.
