A KITWE-based Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) has called on society including the corporate world to support orphanages that are genuinely
addressing the plight of Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) in communities.
Beautiful-gate Zambia (BZ), an NGO working to help address the plight of vulnerable children in society said members of the public and the corporate world should join efforts in supporting orphanages working to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable children in the country.
Executive director Bill Kaping’a said on Wednesday when his organised a Christmas party for street children that addressing the welfare of the vulnerable especially OVCs required concerted effort.
Mr Kaping’a said society and the corporate world should come on board and invest in programmes and activities aimed at improving the welfare of the less privileged children.
“Even with the existence of organisations such as ours working to address the plight of the vulnerable, the challenges faced by these
people are many for one particular NGO to address alone,” Mr Kaping’a said.
He said his organisation had committed itself to helping put a smile on vulnerable children and this was the reason it had continued to hold Christmas parties for street children every year.
Mr Kaping’a said over the years, Beautiful-gate had transformed a good number of street kids into responsible citizens.
