By SHAMAOMA MUSONDA –
ZAMBIAN football legend, Boniface ‘Chitapocimo’ Simutowe, who died on Tuesday at the age of 65, will be buried today at Leopards Hill Memorial Park in Lusaka.
Burial will take place after a church service at the United Church of Zambia Palm Drive Congregation in Chelstone.
Simutowe, a former Zambian footballer of the year, leaves the local soccer fans with several sweet memories which include many penalties won for Zambia as well as his goals.
He was a member of the 1974 Zambia squad that took part in the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time and went on to reach the final which was lost after two matches against then Zaire (DR Congo).
Simutowe, born October 13, 1949, was also part of the historical Kabwe Warriors team of 1972 which won all silverware on offer in Zambia and last coached Napsa Stars which was previously known as Profund Warriors.
