FORMER Zambian league champions, Nkana have acquired the services of DR Congo-born striker Djunese Kanda from demoted Indeni.
Newly-appointed Nkana chairperson Everisto Kabila said in Kitwe yesterday that the record 12-time champions’ top priority in 2015 will be to reclaim the MTN/FAZ Super League title they relinquished to Zesco United this year.
“I am glad to announce that we have so far made a few signings. We are still negotiating for a few other players to fill the midfield, wings and upfront so that we make a consolidated squad.
On the other hand we will release a few players from the team of which some were on loan with us and have been recalled by their clubs,” Kabila said.
Kanda joins Nkana after an impressive 2014 season at Indeni scoring seven goals for the demoted Ndola club where he spent just a year after joining from the Tanzanian champions Azam.
Other new signings include defender Given Sinyangwe from relegated Roan United and Josphat Kasusu from Indeni.
Kabila added that winger Shadreck Musonda has now joined Nkana on a permanent move from Kalulushi Modern Stars after spending the 2014 season on loan from the latter.
Meanwhile, Kabila paid tribute to his predecessor John Chiwele and backed coach Beston Chambeshi to reclaim the league title next season.
“The year 2014 was a setback. We finished fourth with seven points below the league winner but come 2015, we are back to bring back the title where it belongs,” Kabila said.
