UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema has promised Ndola residents that he will ensure access to education for all once elected President on January 20, 2015.
Mr Hichilema said he was aware that access to education was a challenge for people but once elected, he would change the status quo.
Mr Hichilema was speaking in Ndola yesterday where he addressed a rally at Nkwazi grounds to drum up support for his party ahead of the January 20, poll.
He said he would improve access to clean water and improve sanitation for residents in the peril-urban areas of Ndola.
“People in areas like Nkwazi and Chipulukusu have little or no access to clean and safe drinking water, but when Hakainde is voted into government, the situation will change for the better,” he said.
The UPND leader was accompanied by Lunte MMD Member of Parliament (MP) Felix Mutati, Liuwa MP Situmbeko Musokotwane, Masaiti MMD MP Michael Katambo and Senanga MP Likando Mfalali.
Others were Lubansenshi Independent MP Patrick Mcheleka, Lukulu West UPND MP Misheck Mutelo, former first lady Maureen Mwanawasa and former deputy speaker of the National Assembly Mutale Nalumango.
Meanwhile, the UPND has pledged to firmly use Government resources to improve the living standards of Zambians once elected on January 20.
UPND vice-president Richard Kapita said Mr Hichilema had a greater passion to improve the living standards of all Zambians hence the need to vote for him.
Addressing scores of people during a rally at Lusumpuko House grounds in Choma at the weekend, Mr Kapita assured the people of Southern Province of massive developmental projects in the area.
