Allow me to commend the commitment, bravity and dedication of Ethel Kabwe a nurse at a rural health clinic in Lufwanyama.
The nurse defied all odds to accompany a woman whose pregnancy was due from a very distant place up to Roan General Hospital under very difficult conditions.
With all hope lost by most people, the woman delivered successfully.
The life of the baby boy and the mother was saved.
Such nurses need to be rewarded with a promotion for their hard work on duty.
The rural health centre mostly depend on ambulances from Kitwe but on that day, January 15, 2014, there was no fuel in the ambulance. A good samaritan who was coming to Mpatamato market gave them a lift in a canter when it was raining heavily and from Mpatamato members of the community organised a vehicle up to Roan hospital to ferry the parties involved.
But with the coming of 650 health posts such problems will be a thing of the past.
May the lord bless nurse Ethel Kabwe and health personnel at Roan hospital for the job well done.
