A THIRTY-FOUR-year-old man of Samfya District in Luapula Province has been murdered and dumped on Lake Kapolobo.
Sunday Kakefu, of Mwili Village in Chief Kasoma’s area in Samfya was found floating on Lake Kapolobo.
The body was found with two deep cuts on the left side of his forehead suspected to have been inflicted by a sharp instrument.
Luapula Province police commissioner Malcom Mulenga said police strongly suspect that the deceased was murdered with a sharp instrument and later dumped into the lake which is a few kilometres from his home village.
Mr Mulenga said after he got confirmation from Katanshya Ward councillor Godfrey Bwalya, police rushed to the scene but found that the body had been removed from the lake and taken to the funeral house.
“The body was later identified as that of Sunday Kakefu of Mwili village in Chief Kasoma’s area in Samfya and after inspection, the body was discovered with two deep cuts on the left side of the forehead,” Mr Mulenga said.
The body was taken to Samfya District mortuary awaiting postmortem, while police are investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, a 26-year-old man died on the spot after being hit by a truck along the Mwense-Kazembe Road in Luapula Province on Saturday.
The accident occurred around 19:20 hours when a Hino truck registration number ALR 2245 hit Clement Mushinge leaving him dead on the spot.
“The Hino truck, being driven by Jordan Mwape 33, was moving from south heading north and Mushinge was cycling from the opposite direction but using the same lane.
“As the cyclist attempted to cross to another lane, he was hit by the truck and due to the impact, he was killed on the spot,” Mr Mulenga said.
