MMD Presidential candidate Rupiah Banda was at the weekend mobbed when he made a brief stop over in Kabwe where he mingled with marketeers before proceeding to Kapiri Mposhi where he held meetings with party officials.
Meanwhile, MMD national Secretary Muhabi Lungu says he was happy that the injunction filed in court to stop Mr Banda from campaigning had been thrown out and that nothing would stop the former head of State from promoting himself and the party.
Mr Banda stopped over at Green Market where he took time and greeted traders in an effort to woo support ahead of the January 20 elections.
He appealed to traders to vote for the MMD, saying it was the only party which had a vision to develop the country.
It was only the MMD who have the vision for the people of Zambia and that they can be trusted.
Mr Banda and his entourage later went to Kapiri Mposhi where he held meetings with MMD party officials before proceeding to Kasama.
Mr Lungu said he was happy with the reception given to the MMD candidate so far and that his party was confident of emerging victorious in the presidential election.
The former head of State at the weekend held rallies in Mkushi before moving to Serenje District of Central Province.
“The throwing out of the injunction means that nothing can stop our leader from filing in and contesting the upcoming elections,” he said.
Meanwhile, most political parties have intensified their door to door campaigns in Kabwe with most of them using mega phones.
The United Party for National Development (UPND), Patriotic Front (PF), Democratic Alternatives (FDA), MMD campaign teams have continued using the mega phones while driving round various townships with a view of winning support ahead of the elections.
Meanwhile, some Kabwe residents are saddened that the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) will not conduct voter registration ahead of the presidential election.
