MMD presidential candidate Rupiah Banda has singled out the need to tackle high cost of living as being amongst the major tasks that he would prioritise if he was elected to office.
Mr Banda said that he would put much emphasis in ensuring that the general cost of living became affordable for the average Zambian.
Mr Banda said this during his public rally in Mkushi District’s Itala Township on Friday,
He charged that life had generally become more difficult for the common people, saying that the rising prices of commodities had made life harder for people of various social strata’s.
He pointed that the task of overcoming this challenge required renewed and vigorous efforts, saying that his party placed much value on reducing what he termed as high poverty levels.
Mr Banda stressed that if elected, he would assemble a youthful Cabinet that had the compassion and diligence to achieve the objectives that aimed at reducing the cost of living.
The former Republican president also held another public meeting at Masansa later that day.- ZANIS
