By SYLVESTER MWALE –
PATRIOTIC Front (PF) president Edgar Lungu has pledged to dialogue with the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) in a bid to develop the area once elected Republican president during next month’s presidential elections.
Mr Lungu said he would engage with the BRE in a bid to take development to Western Province.
The PF leader said this at the Kuta in Mongu before he paid a courtesy call on the Litunga yesterday.
Mr Lungu who was accompanied by party national chairperson Inonge Wina, Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili and Agriculture Minister Wylbur Simuusa said even wars in the western world had been quenched through dialogue.
He however, thanked the people in the area for their support that had been exhibited through a thunderous welcome.
Mr Lungu promised to ensure that the province was developed and assured the people that he felt at home every time he visited Mongu because he was more familiar with the Lozi tradition.
At the same event, Induna Inete urged Mr Mr Lungu not to forget God in everything that he did as he pushes his bid to rule Zambia after the January presidential elections.
He also noted that culture was important for every society and needed Governmnet support.
Later, Mr Lungu addressed a mammoth rally at Mulambwa Grounds where he urged the people of Western Province to vote for him in order to continue witnessing the ongoing development in the region.
Mr Lungu said he was ready to continue with the developmental projects that late president Michael Sata had embarked on before he died.
He said it was only by giving the PF a period of up to 2016 that people could properly judge the performance of the ruling party.
He said Western Province had been neglected since independence but that the PF had embarked on developmental projects in order to transform the area.
Earlier, Mr Kambwili said there was no way the United Party for National Development could deliver because it did not have numbers in Parliament to implement laws and policies.
Mr Lungu arrived in the provincial capital to a thunderous welcome aboard a private aircraft and was welcomed by scores of PF supporters who lined up the road as he was being driven to the Kuta.
