By SANDRA MWILA –
HONOUR Janza has called for hard work as the 24 locally based Chipolopolo players regroup today to kick-start preparations ahead of the Equatorial Guinea 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals next month.
Janza said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that the players should work hard and remain discipline.
He challenged the players summoned to cam to fight for places ahead of the AFCON finals as no player was guaranteed an automatic place in the Chipolopolo.
“Players should work hard, stay focused and disciplined as they prepare for the very important task ahead of them. Every player should believe in his abilities to make it into the final team and deliver good results at the AFCON,” he said.
Janza said the local players should be ready to battle for places with the foreign based players that will be named on December 23.
He said the local players should begin from somewhere to earn the experience like the old crop currently playing in the Chipolopolo.
“No player has an automatic place in the final team whether local or foreign with experience but performance will determine,” Janza said.
The Chipolopolo are in Group B together with the 1968 and 1974 champions DR Congo, 2004 winners Tunisia including 2013 debutants and quarterfinalist Cape Verde.
Zambia will kick-off their Group B campaign on January 18 against DR Congo at Ebebiyin where they will be based.
The team has goalkeepers Danny Munyao (Red Arrows), Satchmo Chakawa (Green Eagles), Toaster Nsabata (Nchanga Rangers) and Joshua Titima (Power Dynamos).
Defenders are Nyambe Mulenga (Zesco United), Christopher Munthali, Donashano Malama (Nkana), Alex Mwamba (Power Dynamos), Dennis Banda (Green Buffaloes), Jimmy Chisenga (Red Arrows) and Roderick Kabwe (Zanaco).
Midfielders include Spencer Sautu (Green Eagles), Shadreck Malambo, Bruce Musakanya (Red Arrows), Kennedy Mudenda (Power Dynamos), Larry Bwalya (Nchanga Rangers), Changwe Kalale (Chambeshi), Nsofwa Mwansa (Kabwe Warriors), Charles Zulu (Zanaco), Kayawe Kapota (Napsa Stars) and Simon Silwimba (Zesco United).
The Strikers are Jackson Mwanza (Zesco United), Ronald Kampamba, Festus Mbewe (Nkana).
