COACH Steven Mwansa has expressed fears that influential striker Djunese Kanda might ditch his demoted Indeni side to play for some big teams in the MTN/FAZ Premier League.
The Congolese striker made an impact at the Ndola outfit since arriving from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at the start of the 2014 season, scoring some of the cruccial goals in the league.
Mwansa said in an interview that Kanda was an integral part of the Indeni squad in their bid to fight for promotion back to the Premier League.
He said he was not ready to lose the Congolese striker and urged the club’s executive committee to maintain the current team.
“We know that Kanda is an important member of the team and his performance throughout the season must have attracted interest from other clubs who may be seeking his services because he showed his true quality in the games that he played.
“Now that we are relegated, the player may be tempted to leave but I think the most important thing is to keep the current squad because we have a serious challenge ahead and that is to bounce to the top flight football,” Mwansa said.
Meanwhile, Mwansa has attributed his team’s relegation to lack of maturity.
He said Indeni had enough quality players but lack of maturity and mental strenght cost his team.
Mwansa said though it was painful for his side to get back to the second tier league having had a season stint, the technical bench will get back to the drawing board and ensure that it is promoted.
“I know that our fans are disappointed but I would like to assure them that we will definitelty bounce back to the premier league,” he said.
