ZAMBIA’S star striker, Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba has clinched a three-year-deal with South Africa Absa Premier Soccer League (PSL) side, Platinum Stars.
Kampamba joins Platinum after starring for 12-time Zambian league champions, Nkana for the last four years.
The Nkana talisman, who trekked to South Africa on Wednesday, signed a three-year deal with the PSL club believed to be worth $70,000.
According to sources close to the deal, Kampamba was accompanied to South Africa by Nkana secretary Ken Mwansa.
Kampamba burst into the limelight two years ago when he took the local league by storm when he scored 16 goals to pick up the MTN Top Scorer’s Award.
His haul of 18 goals in 2013 not only saw him defend the Top Scorer’s accolade but also helped Nkana win the league title for a record 12th time.
The 22-year-old also played in pivotal role in Nkana’s campaign in the CAF club competitions, leading to the Kitwe giants to reach the lucrative group stage of the Confederation Cup this year.
He, however, could not win the Top Scorer’s award for a third year on the trot in 2014 as Zesco United striker, Jackson Mwanza outgunned him.
Kampamba’s goal against Cape Verde in the just-ended 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers made the difference as Zambia won 1-0 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola to avenge the Chipolopolo’s earlier 1-2 loss to the Blue Sharks in Praia.
The talented goal-getter is part of the squad that Chipolopolo coach Honour Janza has summoned for preparations for next month’s AFCON finals in Equatorial Guinea.
Meanwhile, DR Congo giants, TP Mazembe has sent Zambia striker, Jonas Sakuwaha on a season-long loan to 2014 MTN Premier Division League champions, Zesco United.
Mazembe official, Andre Mtine confirmed the move yesterday, saying the loan would run from January 1 to December 31, 2015.
Sakuwaha put up a stellar performance for Zesco, helping the Ndola side to become the first Zambian club to reach the lucrative group stage of the CAF Champions League in 2009.
