UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema has assured the people in Kapiri Mposhi that he will ensure that farming puts are delivered on time once elected Republican President in the forthcoming elections.
Mr Hichilema said he is a farmer and he understands the importance of early planning and delivery of farming inputs, which in turn would enhance the much needed food security and increase agricultural activities.
He was speaking in Kapiri Mposhi on Saturday afternoon when he addressed a rally.
Mr Hichilema said once elected President, he would work towards ensuring that the concerns of farmers are addressed, such as delay of payment for maize supplied.
The UPND leader appealed to the people in Kapiri Mposhi to give him a vote during the January 20, 2014 elections and pledged that he would bring to the higher office new ideas aimed at turning the state of country’s economy.
“I want to let you know that I am a missionary in politics whose interest is to turn around the economy of the country and I want to assure our farmers here since this is a farming area that I will work towards addressing your concerns,” he said.
He said he was the only credible leader who has interest to turn around the country’s economy and that his interest is to be the servant of the people of Zambia and asked them to give him a chance.
Earlier during a rally in Kabwe ‘s Comet area, former first lady Maureen Mwanawasa appealed to the people to vote for Mr Hichilema because he was the only credible leader.
She said she decided to support Mr Hichilema because she was convinced that he has a heart for the country and that he deserves their vote.
Alliance for Development and Democracy leader Charles Milupi said Mr Hichilema was the only leader who would be able to turn around the country’s economy.
