ZAMBIAN players continued with their good run at the ongoing 2014 Africa Junior Chess Championship in Angola where Elastrida Yombwe and Michael Kaoma picked up a win and a draw respectively in their fourth round matches.
This latest excursion means that Zambia’s male representative Kaoma has picked up 2.5 points from a possible four while Yombwe raised her record at the games to two wins and two losses.
Yombe won her fourth round match after beating Sao Tome and Principe’s Marcia Gomes in a tight game and will next play Angola’s Joana Constantino in the fifth round.
In the boy’s section, Kaoma whose only blemish in this tournament so far is a round three loss to Fide Master (FM) Ilias Mihammed, redeemed himself by getting a stalemate against his round-four opponent Ostile Mapini of Botswana.
This draw takes his tally at the tournament to 2.5 points and in the next stage faces Abdelouhab Ouaret of Angola.
