ZAMBIA Amateur Athletics Association (ZAAA) president Elias Mpondela has received the highest nominations ahead of the elective Annual
General Meeting (AGM) set for December 27 in Lusaka.
According to a statement released by general secretary Phil Kubombela yesterday, secretary Mpondela has received 29 nominations out of the 34 affiliates while his challengers Samuel Matete, Jonathan Chipalo, Judith Chaongopa and Christopher Manda got one nominations each.
Godwin Chenda received 27 nominations for the position of vice president out of 29 with George Goma getting two while Carol Mokola got one nomination from her club Young Carol Mokola Club.
The positions of general secretary, vice general secretary and treasurer have gone un- challenged.
“Out of the 32 affiliates, 29 nominations were received as follows eight from provincial area boards and 21 from clubs,” Kubombela said.
Meanwhile, Kubombela has opted to contest the position of committee member and recieved the highest number of nomination followed by Moses
Phiri, Getrude Gamela, Vincent Kaposa, Prospher Tandabala, Micheal Lungu and William Banda.
He said the task force would prepare a comprehensive report to be presented to the ZAAA executive committee for further action and transmission of relevant authorities
The eagerly awaited ZAAA elective AGM will be held at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre (MICC).
