PATRIOTIC Front (PF) president Edgar Lungu has said the party will this weekend launch political campaigns in Kitwe, ahead of the presidential election slated for January 20, 2015.
Meanwhile, the PF in Ndola has pledged to rally behind Mr Lungu as the party’s presidential candidate in the Presidential by-election next year.
Mr Lungu said the party would launch its campaigns in Kitwe as the city was a renowned PF stronghold where support was massive.
“We are launching our campaigns this Saturday in Kitwe because it is a hub of the PF and the party enjoys maximum popularity there,” Mr Lungu said when he addressed PF cadres at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe Airport in Ndola yesterday.
Mr Lungu said the party would continue with the vision of late President Michael Sata so that development programmes were achieved in line with the PF manifesto.
He urged the party members to remain united and refrain from participating in activities that were likely to breach national peace.
Meanwhile, PF Ndola Central Constituency chairperson Peter Chupa said in a statement that the party structures in Ndola Central were rallying behind Mr Lungu because of his good leadership qualities.
Mr Chupa said Mr Lungu was the right candidate to move the party forward and this was why he was enjoying overwhelming support in the party.
