ZAMBEEF yesterday donated 110 pairs of boots worth K19,000 to 10 community schools in Kalingalinga and Mtendere townships.
The company made the donation that included 11 pairs of Kaleza Z-12 soccer boots to each of the 10 schools along with two Zamleather balls during the K50 Butchery Bonanza Launch at Sunningdale Mall in Kalingalinga.
Zambeef Marketing Group head Perry Siame said the donation was part of Zambia’s 50th Jubilee celebrations and also in line with the company’s strong support for local communities countrywide.
“Zambeef butcheries are at the heart of every community we serve and felt obliged to give back to the people that make us exist. Sports help children keep busy and healthy from the negative vices that exist in the communities. We are positive that this will motivate the passionate young footballers,” he said.
Siame said ZAMBEEF recognises the enormous football talent among the children and will endeavour to offer support to the grassroots.
“Kaleza boots are made by Zambeef’s Zamshu Division and are the first to be locally designed and manufactured in Zambia. We are proud that the community is also part of this success,” he said.
Lusaka Central Zonal In-service coordinator Kanjawa Mweemba thanked Zambeef for the donation saying it will help improve the team’s performance.
“We have massive talent but these kids usually lack proper sports equipment. I commend Zambeef for investing back into the community through this donation that will go a long way. The pairs of boots and balls will indeed motivate the pupils and bring back results,” she said.
The schools that benefitted from the donation are Kalingalinga Primary, Vera Chiluba Primary, Mahatma Gandi Primary, Chitukuko Primary, Mtendere Community, Mapode Primary, Mtendere Catholic, Kalingalinga Open, Care Youth Foundation and Lusaka Secondary.
