THE Southern Tourism, Agricultural and Commercial Cooperative Show Society (STACCS) has urged residents and the corporate world to come on board and support the transformation of the provincial show into a premier annual event.
STACCS president Margaret Makungo said the provincial show had lagged behind in terms of infrastructure and other facilities over the years, hence the need for various stakeholders to support the executive in improving the premises.
Ms Makungo said there was need for Livingstone Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as tour operators and other stakeholders to come on board to improve the premises.
Ms Makungo noted with sadness that this year’s event only attracted 11,000 show goers when it had capacity to accommodate 20,000 people.
She said Livingstone was a tourist capital and stakeholders could ride on that status to raise the profile of the show into international standards.
“We need to transform this place into a show we all want to be associated with.
At the moment, image of this show leaves much to be desired.
“We can transform this show to be the most sought after show in Zambia. The place is yours and you should ensure that you take owners and associated with it,” Ms Makungo said.
