By PERPETUAL SICHIKWENKWE –
A  MATTER in which MMD leaderNevers Mumba has dragged the party National Executive Committee (NEC) to court for suspending him from the party has been adjourned to Wednesday.
Dr Mumba has since been granted an interim injunction by High Court judge Chalwe Mchenga pending an inter parte hearing of the matter.
But MMD secretary general Muhabi Lungu has opposed the granting of an injunction to Dr Mumba, because his suspension was done in good faith and in accordance with the party constitution.
Mr Lungu said Dr Mumba had gone against the Party Constitution by declaring himself a presidential candidate in the January 20, 2014 election, in total defiance of the directive by the NEC.
When the matter came up for hearing yesterday,  Dr Mumba’s lawyers requested for an adjounement to enable them study and respond to Mr Lungu’s response.
Mr Justice Mchenga allowed the application.
