POLICE in Kabwe have arrested four people among them, a cook, for staging robberies and stealing household goods worth thousands of Kwacha from farms in Kabwe, and Mkushi.
Police have also recovered two pistols and several rounds of ammunition and 15 mobile phones which were stolen from various farms during the raid.
Central Province Police chief Standwell Lungu said the four were arrested following Police investigations and that it has been established that they were also involved in a spate of other robberies in Mkushi.
Mr Lungu said preliminary investigations revealed that the robbery at Button Farm in Kabwe was masterminded by a former cook who worked at the farm, considering that the attackers went straight to pick the bag which contained keys for a safe that had both local and foreign currency.
The money has since been recovered.
He identified the four as Peter Katampi aged 35, Davies Chisenga, Thomson Kasuba and Luka Banda (cook), and that have been charged with aggravated robbery and rape among other charges.
Other items recovered were generators, professional video camera, television set, radio speakers, DVD players.
