SIX people have been arrested in Solwezi after they were found with two rhino horns.
The six among them, a 43-year-old woman, were arrested by the Police from a named guest house.
North-Western Province Commissioner of Police Eugene Sibote confirmed the arrest of the six in an interview yesterday.
The suspects were arrested on Monday night around 22:30 hours following a police raid on the guesthouse where they were trying to sell the animal horns to some people.
The suspects are Chinyama Kayombo, 28, of Kyawama Township in Solwezi, Raphael Makumba, 29, of Natukumo area in Shang’ambo District, Mweemba Kanyama, 41, Mongu, and Likigi Mbangu, 29 also of Mongu.
The rest are Nathan Siyunda, 23, of Mongu and the only female Violent Mwizyamba of Manyama area in Solwezi.
“We found them in possession of two suspected rhino horns and an unregistered Toyota Runx vehicle. They were trying to sell the horns to some people when they were arrested,” Mr Sibote said.
He said police were yet to establish whether the seized horns were original rhino tasks or fake ones.
Mr Sibote said the arrested suspects were currently in police custody waiting to appear in court.
