THE Copperbelt Volleyball Association (COVA) has received a sponsorship boost of K10,435 for today’s annual beach volleyball national tournament to be staged at Makoma Dam in Luanshya.
COVA general secretary Noble Bwanga said in interview that the money had been donated by a Kitwe based company, Chalube Investment and that the association was still scouting for K14,000 to meet the K24,000 set budget.
Bwanga said the tournament would serve as a qualifier for the forthcoming 2015 Zone Six Volleyball Beach Games billed for Namibia.
He appealed to the corporate to come to the aid of the association as the tournament draws near.
Bwanga said 12 teams would be expected to participate in the tournament from which six will be selected to compete at the Zone Six games in Namibia.
He urged the participants to aim high with winners expected to walk away with medals that include gold, silver and bronze.
Meanwhile Zambia Volleyball Association (ZAVA) has in principle agreed to partner with Mikasa Company to market the Mikasa volleyball products in zambia.
ZAVA general secretary Charles Haambote said the association hoped to start distributing Mikasa volleyball equipments to schools, clubs ,church bodies and high institutions of learning to help grow the sport.
