By JAMES KUNDA –
COMPANIES engaged in oil and gas exploration are expected to avail substantial results this quarter following the progress that has been made in the exercise.
Mines, Energy and Water Development Minister Christopher Yaluma said the Government had issued nine licences for the exploration of oil and gas in selected lubricant blocs countrywide.
Mr Yaluma said among the firms which had been granted licences for the exploration of oil and gas were from Britain and China, who have partnered with Zambians.
“There is progress, all the companies have moved on site now and we expect to start receiving some results by the end of this month,” he said.
Mr Yaluma said indications of Zambia containing deposits of oil and gas were positive and this was why Government decided to embark on the exploration exercise.
