HE Patriotic Front (PF) has set November 18, 2014 as the closing date for receiving applications for those interested in contesting the position of party president.
According to a notice, applications should be addressed to the PF secretary general and should be submitted by 17:00 hours on Tuesday November 18.
The notice also reads that “applications must be accompanied by a non-refundable fee of K20,000 and must be according to Article 52 (10) of the PF constitution.
The election for the PF President will be held at an extra-ordinary general conference to be held on or before the November 27, 2014 at the Mulungushi Rock of Authority.
And PF Kasama Member of Parliament Geoffrey Mwamba says the current differences in the ruling party contradict the vision and legacy of late President Michael Sata.
Mr Mwamba, popularly known as GBM, said in Lusaka yesterday that he was disturbed and disappointed with the level of debate and acrimony that had rocked the ruling party.
He called on the well-meaning structures and organs of the party to respect the party constitution as modalities were being made for the holding of the general congress.
Mr Mwamba called on the people to be peaceful and united as they had done over the years, adding that any chaos in the PF had the potential to spill over to the rest of the country.
