Police capBy REBECCA MUSHOTA –

A HEAD-TEACHER and a senior teacher at Kale Primary School in Mansa have been arrested for leaking an examination paper.
Kale head-teacher Gervas Chambwa and a senior teacher Albeno Kalenga have been arrested for being in possession of pre-written Grade nine Geography paper 2 examination copy for 2014 on Thursday.
Luapula Province Police Commissioner Malcolm Mulenga said yesterday that police received a report of suspected examination mal-practice at the school, which is 35 kilometres from Mansa District business centre from the Luapula provincial education office on Thursday morning.
Police officers rushed to the school and found a Geography paper 2 examination paper partly answered at around 09:00 hours, two hours before the paper was scheduled to be written, stuck in between some past examination papers.
Mr Mulenga said the police preliminary investigations revealed that the senior teacher, was the one who had allegedly made a hole in the sealed examination papers package to retrieve a single paper and the head-teacher was the one that started answering the questions.
The key keepers of the trunk where the papers were kept and who are also invigilators, said that on Wednesday around 09:30 hours, Kalenga got the keys from them, purporting that Chambwa wanted to put some other papers in the trunk.
“Police suspect it is at that time that the paper was removed from the pack,” Mr Mulenga said.
The provincial education office has appointed a team to manage the examinations in the absence of the head-teacher and the senior teacher, comprising five teachers.
