ZAMBIA’S leading star, Choolwe Hamalambo is among the 60 players that will be battling for honours in the National Junior Championship to be held at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) in Lusaka today.
Hamalambo won the last edition held in September after beating Jeconiah Lambe and the two top players will be among those eyeing the Under-18 boys title, while Mubanga Kunda of Olympafrica and Latifa Nalavwe of PingPong Stars will square it out for honours in the girl’s category.
Other budding stars expected to compete in the various age group events include Chanda Muma (Olympafrica), Sydney Sakala (Ng’ombe PTA), Janet Mwelwa and Monica Mutale (Olympafrica), Aaron Phiri and Wisdon Myirenda (Olympafrica), Zaninge Kaira (Olympafrica) and Mwiza Siame (Ng’ombe PTA).
Zambia Table Tennis Association (ZTTA) patron Haroon Ghumra said in a statement that the long-day contest will see players compete in six categories for the boys and two for the girls.
