GOVERNMENT has praised Levy Mwanawasa General Hospital for delivering quality healthcare services to the citizens.

The hospital has also been commended for maintaining a clean and caring environment for patients.

Health Deputy Minister, Chitalu Chilufya said he was impressed with the work culture of employees at the hospital.

Dr Chilufya was speaking after a familiarisation tour to acquaint himself with operations of the health facility in Lusaka on Tuesday.

He said the Government was committed to ensuring that Zambians continued to access quality health care, and that it had put in place preventive measures to reduce disease outbreaks.

“What you are doing here is very commendable and I am appealing to the hospital to assist the Government in ensuring our people acquire quality health services,” he said.

Dr Chilufya said the Government had set up training institutions to address the staffing challenges in the health sector.

Levy Mwanawasa General Hospital head of clinical care, Clarence Chiluba said members of the public were now aware of the hospital’s existence, and that the number of patients had increased.

Dr Chiluba pledged that the hospital would maintain its current status and thanked Government for the support it had been rendering to the hospital since its inception.
