THE Zambia Golf Union (ZGU) has appointed KPMG Zambia senior partner and chief executive officer, Jason Kazilimani as vice-president south, replacing Innocent Chalabesa.
Chalabesa vacated the ZGU post after being appointed Sports Council of Zambia (SCZ) acting general secretary.
ZGU honorary secretary, Kelly Munsaka said the union had decided to co-opt Kazilimani, formerly captain at Chainama Hills Golf Club and a member of the Zambia Open Organising Committee, because of his vast experience in sport and corporate administration.
Munsaka said in an interview in Kitwe yesterday that ZGU was optimistic Kazilimani’s experience and expertise would add value to the union administration.
He urged the golfing fraternity to give Kazilimani support for him to succeed in his new role.
The ZGU honorary secretary also paid tribute to Chalabesa for the good leadership he exhibited during his time and that the union was proud to produce an administrator who could be appointed to head SCZ’s secretariat.
Munsaka said ZGU would continue seeking guidance from Chalabesa in administering golf.
Meanwhile, the ZGU has set November 30 as the date for its annual general meeting.
Munsaka said the non-elective council meeting would be preceded by the traditional Levy Mwanawasa President’s Cup in Kabwe.
