By CHARITY MOONGA-
SECRETARY to the Cabinet Rowland Msiska has said that examinations scheduled for today will go ahead as planned.
In a statement circulated yesterday, Dr Msiska said that following the closure of some roads in Lusaka, alternative routes for movement would be communicated through radio and television.
The routes would be closed to pave way for the State funeral on tomorrow, which will be attended by nine heads of State.
Among the routes that will be closed are Independence Avenue and roads around Embassy Park to reduce unnecessary congestion.
Others are the Great East and Great North roads.
All pupils will be given alternative routes to use to go and write their examinations.
Meanwhile, late President Michael Sata’s body will today be taken to Parliament buildings for an inter-denominational thanksgiving requiem church service.
Dr Msiska said the programme will be preceded by a valedictory service for the late President by councillors at Mulungushi International Conference Centre.
There will then be body viewing by traditional leaders at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre, after which the body will be taken to Parliament buildings.
The requiem service will be attended by Acting President Guy Scott, service chiefs, first Republican president Kenneth Kaunda, fourth President Rupiah Banda, PF secretary general Edgar Lungu and acting Chief Justice Lombe Chibesakunda, Cabinet ministers and members of the central committee, members of Parliament, among othrs.
After the requiem service, the funeral cortege will depart Parliament buildings for State House and visiting heads of State and representatives of heads of State will pay their last respects at State House.
The body of the late President will remain at State House until Tuesday in readiness for burial.
