THE Sports Council of Zambia (SCZ) has set November 15 as date to meet the Zambia Martial Arts Federation (ZMAF) affiliates who intend to pass a vote of no confidence in the Simba Mangaba led executive committee.
ZMAF affiliates wrote a petition to SCZ calling for the dissolution of the executive and fresh elections held to usher in new officer bearers.
SCZ acting general secretary, Innocent Chalabesa said he was aware of the plans by the ZMAF affiliates to pass a vote of no confidence in the Mangaba-led executive committee.
Chalabesa said the SCZ secretariat had agreed to have a meeting with the ZMAF affiliates on November 15 to discuss and find a solution to the problems that have engulfed the federation.
“SCZ is aware of the plans by ZMAF affiliates to pass a-vote-of-no-confidence in their executive committee. The meeting, aimed at find a solution to their problems, was initially set for November 8 but we have rescheduled to the 15th in view of the national mourning for the late President Michael Sata,” he said.
ZMAF affiliates led by national team assistant coach, John Ng’ulube want a new executive to be put in place and help transform the federation.
The affiliates in their petition claimed that Mangaba does not qualify to be president for ZMAF because he does not belong to the World Karate Federation (WKF) and had allegedly turned the federation into a family affair.
Affiliates are also bitter that Mangaba used the mats donated by the WKF as surety to Mulungushi International Conference Centre (MICC) after failing to pay about K30,000 debt incurred during the hosting of the Zone Six Championship.
Efforts to get Mangaba, who last week said he had not received any petition, failed as his mobile phone went unanswered.
