THE Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM) has paid tribute to the late President Michael Sata for his zeal to promote local products.
ZAM president, Bright Chunga said the association had lost a dedicated partner who aimed at ensuring local products were improved.
Dr Chunga said Mr Sata had during his term in office exhibited consistency to the idea of promoting local products through value addition.
“President Sata argued that the nation must persist in this policy of promoting local products, we will miss a strong and strategic partner in this endeavour,” he said.
He said in an interview in Lusaka that the late President showed his dedication to promote local products in his preface in the Patriotic Front (PF) manifesto and at other fora, including the opening of the 11th National Assembly in September this year.
He recalled that President Sata believed that people should rely more on their efforts to develop their products through creativity.
President Sata believed that it was self-confidence and efforts that would ultimately energise the nation to love with passion and pride in the journey towards inclusive growth and sustainable development.
“Our prayers go to the First Family and we wish them Gods comfort and blessings in this time of great emotional need,” he said.
