THE Government has released K3 million towards the rehabilitation and construction of dip tanks in some parts of the country.
The K3 million is part of the K52 million which the Government allocated to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock for rehabilitation and construction of dip tanks in some parts of the

The funding was meant for operations and would enable officers prepare bill of quantities, tender processing and contract preparations.
Agriculture and Livestock Deputy Minister Luxon Kazabu said in an interview in Lusaka that the Government had released the K3 million towards the construction and rehabilitation of dip tanks in areas where people reared cattle and where tick borne-disease was prevalent.
“I must confirm that the Government has released K3 million for rehabilitation and construction of dip tanks in some parts of the country. I must say that this is part of the K52 million which was
allocated towards this project in the National Budget,” Mr Kazabu said.
He said that a number of districts had since gone ahead to sign contracts with various contractors for the projects.
Mr Kazabu said, in some cases the contractors had already moved on site and commenced construction or rehabilitation of the dip tanks.
He named the districts as Ndola, Kitwe, Masaiti, Mpongwe, Lufwanyama, Mpongwe, Chingola and Mufulira on the Copperbelt as well as Mumbwa in Central Province.
Other districts included Nakonde, Isoka, and Chama in Muchinga Province among others.
“These are some of the districts where we have people rearing cattle, and the tick borne-disease is quiet prevalent,” Mr Kazabu said.
