GOVERNMENT has come to the rescue of the National Paralympics Committee (NPC) by taking care of the camping and transport for the five athletes to compete at the 2014 Supreme Council for Sport in Africa (SCSA) Zone Six Under-20 Games.
Coach Wisdom Moonga thanked Government for bailing out the national team for the SCSA Zone Six Under-20 Games to be staged in Zimbabwe in December.
Monga urged the athletes to put in their best performance during their training camp which will run from November 23 to December 2 at the Olympic Youth Development Centre in Lusaka.
The team comprises Celina Phiri (100 metres),  Monica Munga (200m), Philemon Banda (100m and 200m), Christopher Manda Mukosa (100m and 200m) and Lauti Moonga (800m and 1,500m).
Moonga said in an interview yesterday that Government had also secured transport for the team to enable them travel for the regional games.
“NPC delayed to realise money for the team to go into camp but I am happy that the Government has come on board to support the team,” he said.
Moonga said the team had so far been shaping up well and was happy with the levels of fitness.
He expressed confidence that the Zambian paralympians would reap medalsin Zimbabwe.
