STUDENTS at Evelyn Hone College yesterday staged a class boycott following the death of a student whom they suspect to have died from typhoid due to poor sanitation at the institution.
The students said poor sanitation at the institution had resulted into the breakout of typhoid that had claimed their colleague.
Moono Mungala a third year Environmental Health student died in Chisamba on Wednesday where she had gone on Tuesday for industrial attachment.
Chaos started on Wednesday night when the news broke out that Ms Mungala had died in Chisamba.
Students gathered at the Monk Square and started mourning their friend on the same night.
The disorderly conduct continued yesterday with students blocking vehicles from accessing the institution while most offices remained closed.
The students accused management of failing to address the water and sanitation frailties at the institution which had been going on for a long time.
Some students talked to said many people at the school were complaining about stomach pains because of the unsafe drinking water as well as general poor sanitation.
They accused management at the institution of failing to address the various challenges that the students were facing.
Source at the institution say at least seven students were taken to University Teaching Hospital after suffering from various illnesses relating to sanitation.
