TRIVIA: Sapi started his sports career as a boxer before making his name as a top-notch footballer at Rhokana United, the forerunner for Nkana FC.
He had a brief spell as a boxer at Rhokana Amateur Boxing Club in Kitwe.
He was also scheduled to be part of the Zambian boxing squad at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico. Sapi was however persuaded by his father to quit boxing and focus on football. Inspired by Fred Mwila, he joined Rhokana United in 1968 where he became a marksman at Scrivener Stadium.
Sapi was famed for his heading prowess where he scored most of the goals.
He also played for the Zambia national school team and featured in international games against British clubs namely WolvermptonWanderers and Ipswich.
Apart from football, Sapi was also rugby and motor sport administrator.
Sapi is currently Zambia Professional Boxing and Wrestling Control Board chairperson and also vice-president of the African Boxing Union for East & Central Africa.
