THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has postponed all league games set for this weekend in respect of President Michael Sata, who died in London.
FAZ communications manager Nkweto Tembwe said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that the association had thought it wise to postpone all matches in the various divisions.
“In as much as we have not received any official statement on the national mourning, it would be morally not right to proceed with the FAZ league games because we have to mourn our president and patron,” he said.
This weekend would have seen some teams in the MTN-FAZ Premier league edging closer to winning the title while others are fighting relegation with those in the FAZ Division One north eyeing promotion and the case been similar in the other leagues were promotion and demotion matches would have taken centre stage.
