By CHARITY MOONGA-
ACTING President Edgar Lungu has declared Wednesday October 29, a day of national mourning in honour of the 25 people, mostly pupils who drowned on Independence Day.
The 25, were travelling to participate in independence celebrations when their boat capsized.
Mr Lungu has since conveyed condolences to the bereaved families on behalf of republican President Michael Sata.
Mr Lungu directed secretary to the Cabinet Roland Msiska to organise inter-denominational prayers to be held at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in readiness for burial on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Mr Lungu has with immediate effect dissolved the boards of Patriotic Front (PF) aligned Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).
The affected NGOs are Policy Monitoring and Research Centre (PMRC), Research Bureau, PF Data Centre and the National Project for Poverty Reduction.
The Patriotic Front through the Office of the Secretary General formed various non-governmental organisations to help with research, capacity and institutional growth.
