CHIPATA Municipal Council has for the first time conceived a plan which will see the creation of industrial zones in the town.
Chipata Town Clerk Davies Musenge said the creation of the investments unit plan by the local authority would encourage foreign and local investors to invest in industrial projects in the town.
The town clerk said the establishment of the investments plan would assist to attract investors to the border town as it would be well marketed globally.
“One of the biggest achievements as we are commemorating the Golden Jubilee is that as a council we have come up with an investments plan,” Mr Musenge said.
He said the investments unit plan would also assist to put Chipata town on World map as far as investments are concerned.
He said the local authority had also identified land along Lundazi Road and Great East Road for residential plots.
Mr Musenge said along Lundazi road about 200 hectares of land had been set aside, while the land on the Great East Road, was still being assessed.
The town was facing a land shortage and that the council was doing everything possible to resolve this.
The local authority was also working to secure land for a new burial site because St Annes and Mchini cemeteries had run out of space.
