THE Zambia women soccer team has vowed not to move an inch from the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Technical Centre in Lusaka if they are not paid their allowances.
A check at the FAZ technical Centre found the Shepolopolo still milling around the centre and talking about their unpaid allowances after participating in the Ninth edition TN Mobile Africa Women Championship(AWC).
The Shepolopolo also vowed not to play, maintained their stance of not playing for the National team again.
”All we want is our money and nothing else and after the AWC we are not ready to ever play for national team again,” some players said.
They said they were also bitter with the Sports Minister, Chishimba Kambwili over his continued statement on Government only supporting the men’s national team.
”We are bitter with Kambwili on his continued statement that Government only supports men football, if that’s the case why don’t they source for money elsewhere,” they said.
The players said FAZ had continued their way of not addressing them clearly on the matter of their allowances.
“Only FAZ communications manger, Nkweto Tembwe came to address us but he did not give clear direction on when we will be paid,” some players said.
They said FAZ had earlier promised that they would be paid from the Zambia versus Niger gate-takings but the association later claimed it made a loss.
”This whole situation is very frustrating and if we are not given a clear picture by Saturday, we are going to hold a heavy protest,” They said Meanwhile, National Organisation for Women in Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation (NOWSPAR) executive director, Matidah Mwaba has requested FAZ to urgently deal with the Shepolopolo grievances.
Mwaba said in a statement that NOWSPAR wishes to see equality in women in sport as Zambia celebrates 50 years.
