SCZ chief leads golf team to victory

SPORTS Council of Zambia (SCZ) vice-chairperson, Emmanuel Katebe propelled an Omilyne team to victory during the Zambia Junior Golf Association (ZJGA) Fundraising Golf tournament in Ndola.
The Omilyne team raced to victory after garnering 108 points, four ahead of second-placed Non-Ferrous Metals.
Apart from Katebe, others in the team were Zambia Golf Union (ZGU) treasurer Humphrey Mutambo, former ZGU president Alex Mashano and Chris Mtonga.
The Non-Ferrous Metals team, which grabbed the second position after winning a countback over Buildcon Investment, had Ron Bouverie, DG Patel, PJ Copez and Yogesh Desai.
Top juniors Charles Chibale with his brother Gabriel and Kelvin Chibuye made the Buildcon squad.
In the individual stableford, veteran Godfrey Mbawala got the top slot after winning a three-way countback following a tie on 35 points. Mbawala beat Actor Kaambwa and Chen Zhibo, erspectively on a countback.
Rapson Kopalande was fourth on 34 points, two clear of Matipa Shichitamba while Mario Nigro was sixth after winning another three-way countback over former Zampost postmaster general Paul Simfukwe and B Suthur.
ZGU honorary secretary, Kelly Munsaka grabbed the ninth position after getting the better of his president Charles Mwanza whom he edged on a countback after tying on 30 points.
