Zesco Luapula 0 Wanderers 1
STRIKER Brian Ambungeni scored the all important goal that took the legendary ‘Mighty’ Mufulira Wanderers into joint leadership of FAZ Division One North and crucially stayed five points clear of their closest pursuers, Chambishi.
In a match played at Kaole-03 Stadium in Mansa, Wanderers picked up three points that took them to 60 points, same as Forest Rangers whom they also equal on a plus-17 goal difference but only trail having scored 35 goals, two less than the Ndola side.
Forest race for promotion back to Premier football was slowed down by lowly placed Kansanshi Dynamos in a barren draw while Chambishi came off with a similar 0-0 result at Kitwe United to be third on 55 points.
Other results saw Kalulushi Modern Stars beat Ndola United 2-0, the same result picked up by FQM after Premium Sport failed to make the trip to Solwezi.
There were two 0-0 draws recorded in the matches between Lime against Chindwin Sentries as well as the Grinekar match against Mining Rangers while the match between Mufulira Blackpool and Gomes was abandoned late in the second half.
Dynamos 2 Mazabuka 1
Lusaka Dynamos shoot to the top of the FAZ Division One South table after this hard-fought win at home to Mazabuka United which was spiced by leaders Nkwazi losing and third placed Luena Buffaloes drawing.
Having beaten Livingstone Pirates in midweek in a unplayed game, Dynamos now lead the pack on 63 points, one better than Nkwazi and eight more than Luena Buffaloes with three matches to go.
Nkwazi succumbed to pressure losing 1-0 to Lusaka City Council ( LCC) while the Western Province derby between Mongu-based Zesco Shockers and Luena Buffaloes of Kaoma ended in a 2-2 draw.
Chipata Young Stars beat Zamcoal Diggers 1-0, Livingstone Pirates beat City of Lusaka 2-1 with Paramilitary pouring more gloom on Zesco Malaiti Rangers whom they edged 1-0 while Petauke United eased relegation trouble winning 1-0 at Nampundwe.
The leading draw masters Prison Leopards drew 0-0 at Riflemen while the game between Kafue Celtic and Lusaka Tigers will be played tomorrow.
